Bio

Eric Hanscom is a former World Champion kayaker for whom law is a second, and dryer, career. He is the Managing Attorney at InterContinental IP, an intellectual property law firm in Carlsbad, California. On the side Eric and his wife run a small resort in Thailand (www.Thai-West.com) and are regular visitors to Asia.

Before beginning his own practice Eric utilized his science background and law degree to gain experience in multiple facets of patent, trademark and copyright law and the application of those property rights. Prior to going into private practice, Eric held a number of positions with various companies, including Director of Intellectual Property, a position that offered insight not only into the legal aspects of IP but also the practical use and capitalization upon patent and trademark rights. He has been actively involved in overseeing litigation, contract negotiation and customs issues in the US, Asia, Europe, South American and Australia over matters ranging from patent and trademark infringement to breach of contract.

Eric founded the Law Offices of Eric Hanscom in 1995 as a sole practitioner. Since beginning his practice he has added the legal talents of Todd Langford and formed long-lasting associations with numerous foreign attorneys and law firms and has grown his business into an international practice that has allowed for small business individual attention to our clients while offering many large business amenities.
