Bio
Christy is a coach, teacher and consultant who has found her passion in working with people to build awareness and understanding in themselves and others. The turmoil of finding her own career path gave her the drive to work with others to find their own purpose and live a life of intentional harmony.
She offers her clients 15 years of professional experience, an empathetic heart, an analytical curiosity, an accountability partnership and a balanced approach to living.
Education
Christy graduated from the University of Missouri- Rolla (now Missouri Science and Technology) with a BS in Life Sciences, magna cum laude. Rather than spending more time in a laboratory, she decided to go to law school at Mizzou, in a relatively un-planned career move.
Experience
Christy practiced law for 2 very long years in St. Louis, MO both in a small firm and as an Assistant Attorney General. This experience convinced her that there was not much that she enjoyed about the practice of law, and found that she much preferred mentoring new colleagues.
Christy found a teaching niche working for West, now Thomson Reuters, as Academic Account Manager and moved to sunny San Diego, CA where she spent nearly 8 years training every San Diego law student how to use Westlaw, the premier online legal research service.
As part of her professional development with Thomson Reuters, Christy took the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI), and learned about her Type- ENFJ. This knowledge was a light bulb- she finally understood much of what was so difficult for her about the practice of law, and why teaching was such a better fit. She discovered that she is a Feeler- a helping, relationship-focused type, and that most attorneys are Thinkers- cool and logical types. She finally understood that she wasn't crazy, and that the way she operates is normal for her type, which is only 2.5% of the US population.
During a 2 year maternity sabbatical, she became Certified to administer and interpret the MBTI.
Coaching
In furtherance of her passion to help people be the most they can be, Christy entered coach training in 2011 and graduated from the Accomplishment Coaching Training Program in June 2012. AC is one of the few coach training programs in the world that is wholly accredited with the International Coach Federation.
Teaching
In the Fall of 2012, Christy launched a new seminar at California Western School of Law called Life Tools for Lawyers. This groundbreaking course in legal education combines training in Mindfulness, Emotional Intelligence and Personality Assessment via the MBTI. The purpose of the course is to enhance the self-management and awareness for law students in their pursuit of the law.
Consulting
As a consultant, Christy partners with her clients to tailor engaging, practical and educational workshops and programs around soft skills and self-awareness, such as the personality, mindfulness, emotional intelligence and more.
